The Faubourg Saint-Honoré Committee celebrated on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, the 50th anniversary of the twinning between rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and 5th Avenue.
A magical evening during which the Faubourg vibrated to the frenetic rhythms of the Big Apple. An extraordinary and unprecedented event, placed under the seal of the celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the twinning of the Faubourg Saint-Honoré with Fifth Avenue in New York. A success for this new edition with the record participation of 78 prestigious Maisons, welcoming their guests around cocktails and entertainment! The Faubourg Saint-Honoré, exceptionally returned to pedestrians, took on the typically American colors of the iconic films and TV series of New York in the sixties for a gala evening. West Side Story, Grease, and Mad Men atmosphere!
The staging of the evening was entrusted to the very talented Carine Charaire and Olivier Casamayou, at the head of the iconoclastic troupe I could never be a dancer. Atypical and polymorphic duo, these two artists use dance as an element of a visual ensemble that is both conceptual and pop.
Tableaus vivants, wild choreographies and musical happenings punctuated this third edition of Summer Time for the greatest pleasure of the many guests present. 35 dancers reinterpreted film scenes with talent and energy on sets designed for the occasion: The Jets, inspired by the boy bands of West Side Story; the Pink Ladies, “bad girls” escaped from Grease; the waiters of the “diner” in an energetic acrobatic rock; the Mad Men, elegant and seductive. And to complete this journey through time, vintage cars, vintage cinema projectors, smoke halos, light shows, food trucks, popcorn distribution transported the guests to an enchanting and surprising New York.
